The Old School House (TOSH) in Qualicum Beach is providing an opportunity to study with one of B.C.’s foremost painters.
A Plein Air workshop with Brent Lynch May 12 and 13 will provide instruction in all media and all levels.
Creating images has always been a part of Lynch’s life.
He attended Langara College and the Vancouver School of Art and Design (later Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design).
His search for great instructors eventually took him to England, where he studied painting, print-making and drawing at St. Martin’s School of Fine Art and the Falmouth Institute of Fine Arts.
After returning to Vancouver, he began illustrating and drawing to earn a living.
At 25, he became an editorial illustrator for the Vancouver Sun newspaper, which became the beginning of a successful 25-year career in the arts.
In 1979, he formed Brent Lynch Graphics — soon to become one of North America’s leading art and graphic design studios.
His innovative artwork and creativity have been recognized world-wide and selected to receive many prestigious communication arts awards for illustration and design.
These days Lynch likes to focus more on the development of his personal work.
The power and energy of his figurative and landscape paintings are the result of his need to draw and paint from life.
Whether sketching and painting in the field or with models in the studio, it is this immediate, raw connection with his subject that has become the cornerstone of his work.
A popular lecturer and instructor, his workshops are challenging, humorous and always an experience.
He is an active SFCA member of the Canadian Federation of Artists and Honorary Member of the Life Drawing Society of Canada.
He participates in local, national and international solo and group exhibitions and gallery shows. His original and published reproductions are found in many corporate, government, gallery, museum and private collections around the world.
