Register for this “tasty tour” and visit award-winning food and wine producers at local heritage farms and wineries. Visit favourites like Fairburn Farms, True Grain Mill, Hilary’s Cheese Co, an organic chocolate producer and Venturi Schulze Winery.

• Do you care for infants or children?
If so, we have an informative course to offer you called “Save that Child” on Saturday, April 9 at 9:30 a.m. This four-hour course stresses accident prevention and teaches first aid, including CPR by St. John Ambulance. The information provided could prove invaluable should an emergency situation present itself. Register today by calling the White Rock Community Centre at 604-541-2199.
• Keep Well Gentle Exercise is an informal chair exercise program offered at Kent Street every Monday morning at 9:45 a.m.
For 45 minutes, this volunteer-led program takes you through a variety of mild movements to music while seated in a chair. It will get your blood pumping and heart beating without being too strenuous. If interested, feel free to drop in on a Monday morning to see what it’s all about. Newcomers are more than welcome.
• Kent Street Activity Centre not only offers a wide variety of activity programs, but we also offer some complimentary services for those 55+.
These services include blood-pressure monitoring, legal advice and hearing testing.
You are not required to be a White Rock Leisure Services member in order to access these services. Drop-in at the Kent Street library for blood pressure monitoring on the third Monday of the month. Next session will be April 18 at 10:30 a.m.
First come, first served. Local lawyer Al Benson will help seniors on low income with legal queries on the first Wednesday of every month. Next session is scheduled for April 6 at 9:30 a.m. Boardwalk Hearing will be here again on Wednesday, May 18 to conduct complimentary hearing tests.If you wish to make an appointment for legal advice or for a hearing test, please call ahead at 604-541-2231.
• Learn how to play bid whist. Lessons will be taught at Kent Street beginning Monday, April 4 at 1 p.m.With enough interest, these lessons will continue on Mondays in April. Our instructor is eager to teach you this trick-taking card game.
