Editor’s note: Vernon & Women’s Transition House Society recently held a Mother’s Day writing contest, asking for people to share why their mom is like no other. The winner is Ashley Sunday, who wins a $100 gift card to the Village Green Centre. She honours her mother, Jean Sunday; both are Vernon residents.
There aren’t enough words in the world to describe why my mom is the greatest.
She encouraged me when I lost all hope. She’s picked up the pieces when I’ve felt shattered. She’s guided me when I’ve lost my way. She’s never given up on me when I gave up on myself.
She’s nursed me back to health when I was near death. She’s my best friend, my hero, my role model, and the best grandmother my child could ever ask for. She always puts everyone else’s needs before her own.
Now while all this may seem ordinary to anyone else, it’s extraordinary to me and I’m so grateful to have her as my mother.
