After 23 years of service, Maria Hutter is hanging up her crayons, glue sticks and healthy snacks to enjoy a well-deserved retirement.
Hutter was recognized recently by the Okanagan Boys and Girls Club’s Child Care Resource and Referral (CCRR) program for completing 23 years of service as a Registered-License-Not-Required care provider in the community.
“We wish her the best in her retirement,” said Jesie Harms, community advisor for CCRR.
Hutter has been registered with CCRR-Vernon since 1990 and during that time she has attended many workshops, networking evenings and child care celebrations with CCRR.
“Over her lifetime, living in Switzerland and then in Vernon, she has provided more than 40 years of quality care to a vast number of infants and toddlers and enjoyed being a strong influence in the lives of the young children and families she has cared for,” said Harms.
Hutter’s plans for the future are to enjoy retirement and life on the farm, but she said she will miss the joy in the children’s faces and the networking opportunities with other child care providers in the community.
A program of the Okanagan Boys and Girls Club-Vernon, the CCRR is a support and referral service for families and child care providers.
The program links families and child care providers in Vernon, Lavington, Lumby, Armstrong, Falkland and Cherryville by offering free consultation, support and referral services to parents seeking child care.
Child care providers are supported though information, outreach, resource library networking and learning opportunities.
Parents are supported through parenting information, a resource library, parenting workshops and general community referrals regarding children and families.
