An innovative event is coming at the beginning of December where the North Okanagan community is invited to have fun exploring the variety in the spiritual and metaphysical community.
“The Gypsy Christmas Bizarre-Bazaar ain’t your grandma’s Christmas craft fair,” said Lois Lea, one of the event organizers.
Decorated in bohemian style with all practitioners in “Gypsy” dress, she expects the event to be a big enough hit for a repeat in the spring.
“The idea is to create a fun atmosphere for any and all to come learn about and connect to the spiritual and metaphysical community in the Okanagan,” said Lea. “We will have a variety of readers, healers and vendors with some light entertainment in the late morning to early afternoon. We want to see people show up in Gypsy dress too.”
The event is fundraising for the Pet Soup Kitchen, with a donation as the entrance fee.
“Pets need to be remembered at Christmas too,” said Tammy Demchuk, another event organizer. “The Pet Soup Kitchen helps low-income families feed their furred loved ones.”
Individual services at the bazaar will be available for discounted fees, a portion of which will also be donated to the Pet Soup Kitchen, and some practitioners will have gift certificates available.
Metaphysical and grassroots vendors will also be “hawking their wares” in the festival atmosphere.
The Bizarre-Bazaar takes place Dec. 1 at the Schubert Centre from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
