Frances Elsie (nee Sambray) Turner celebrated her 100th birthday on Jan. 21. Friends and family packed St. John’s Anglican Church hall in Duncan for a celebration of the century.

The "unique community venture’" Hand in Hand Thrift Shop in Cobble Hill is celebrating its grand opening on Saturday, Feb. 14 at St. John’s Anglican Church, 3295 Cobble Hill Rd., from noon to 4 p.m. The Hand in Hand Thrift Shop will offer clean, gently worn ladies’, men’s and children’s clothing. Regular hours will be on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. "Hand in Hand is a fun Christcentred endeavour showing the community what great things can happen when people work together," said Melissa Howard of Sylvan United Church. "The shop is small in size but big on quality and value. Our pricing is fair and we really want our neighbours and all those savvy thrift shop fans to have that "wow" experience when they walk through the door."

Trish Holland of St. John’s Church echoes Howard’s comments stating, "We all really embrace the merits of ‘reduce, reuse and recycle’ and thought, hey, this is a way we can work together and kick it up a notch for our community with value, quality and a fun experience." For more information and to donate items to Hand in Hand please contact Trish Holland at 250-743-3095.
