NORTH SAANICH — A cannon’s report will herald the start of the spring and summer sailing season on Saturday.
The Sidney North Saanich and Capital City yacht clubs hold a joint Sailpast off of Sidney. Events start at noon and the mini cannon goes off at around 3 p.m. to set the yachts off on a brief excursion into the Salish Sea. People can expect to see around 100 boats — and the best place to see them will be from the Beacon and Bevan piers.
