It’s a unique Caricature Contest linking the local hockey world with the arts community.
Here’s how it will roll out. Fans get to pick their favourite Bruin, sketch a caricature of them and enter it for a chance to win a grand prize.
Headshots of the local hockey players can be found online, along with contest specifics, including size, media, and entry instructions.
Keep in mind a caricature is an exaggerated cartoon image of an individual, often with a miniature body, large head and sometimes striking a pose. The completed works of art are to be dropped off at the Community Arts Council reception in the Cultural Centre on Corbould Street, by Friday, February 25.
All caricatures will be on display at the March 2 Bruins game, with ribbons awarded to the top five entries, judged by Bruins reps.
The top five will also be on display at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre for two weeks following the game.
Grand prizes include two tickets to a Bruins game, two tickets to Pinocchio, two tickets to The Matinee, two tickets to The Drowsy Chaperone, and free guitar lessons. The caricature contest is just one of the many offerings the participating art organizations have planned, including a fantastic entertainment lineup at the March 2 Bruins game. It will be like going to a concert and sports game at the same time.
All fans of the arts receive an exclusive discounted ticket for the March 2 game of just $10. Just mention your love for the arts when you call the Bruins office at 604.792.GOAL(4625).
