With a chocolate fountain, jars of colourful jelly beans and enough sugar to keep Willie Wonka happy, the first Decadent Dessert Fundraiser at Heron Grove was a big hit.
“The wonderful affair was a smashing success,” said Ivana Pavlic, recreation and volunteer coordinator for the Good Samaritan Society-Heron Grove. “We raised more than $7,000 for our Raise the Roof Campaign, a campaign to cover our second-story patio so that residents, family, friends and staff can maximize the beautiful weather we experience throughout the year.”
The fundraiser was such a success that Pavlic has already set the date for next year’s event: Sept. 6, 2014.
“A huge thank you goes out to all sponsors, attendees and volunteers for dedicating your time and money to such a worthy cause,” she said. “From the bottom of my heart, thank you again, and I can’t wait to see you next year.”
Heron Grove opened in Vernon in early 2007 and offers seniors multiple levels of care and the ability to age in place. This campus of care includes the main building which houses the assisted and independent living suites and six 12-bed care cottages.
Heron Grove is operated by The Good Samaritan Society, whose mission is to extend Christian hospitality through a continuum of care to those in need or at risk, regardless of race or religious belief.
