There’s a new doctor in town.
Dr. Peter Bennett has moved from Cambridge in England to join Rosedale Medical Associates as a family physician.
Originally from Kendal in the Lake District of England, Bennett trained at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, graduating in 1990 and completing practice training in 1995.
Then he and his wife Tracey spent a year in rural Manitoba where he worked as a family physician.
On their return to the United Kingdom he worked in a busy family practice for 13 years.
During that time he and his wife had three children, Corey, 13, Joshua, 11, and Amy, 7. Lack of time with his own family prompted the search for a different place to work.
“We’d been planning this for about a year and I looked at a number of different practices. The doctors here seemed like a good crowd that I could work with.”
The family is living in West Kelowna while Bennett commutes to his office at 13009 Rosedale Ave.
He is accepting new patients in his practice and is obtaining privileges to see patients at Penticton Regional Hospital.
“I’m pretty much a generalist, taking care of patients for their entire lives,” he said.
He joins Dr. Alistair Bannerman, Dr. Kevin Wilson, Dr. Denis Brown, Dr. Warren Julien, Dr. Khati Hendry and Dr. Marjorie Krabbe at the Rosedale office.
The family is settling into life in Canada, enjoying skiing, biking and hiking, as well as dining out in Okanagan restaurants.
“I have never seen a summer in the area. It will be great if summer is half as good as everyone says,” he said.
