Historic O’Keefe Ranch heritage site is a blast from the past. Step into yesteryear at this 140-year-old homestead, which once spanned 20,000 acres.
Today, the ranch displays some of the oldest remaining structures in the Vernon area.
The ranch began with one small log cabin and with the hard work of the O’Keefe family, it expanded to a settlement that included a blacksmith shop, Victorian-style mansion and the very first post office in the Okanagan.
These buildings have now been transformed into everything from candy shops to a wedding chapel. A costumed guide will be happy to fill you in during a tour of the buildings, including the on-site museum.
If you prefer to wander around the ranch on your own, feel free. Take some time to relax in the peaceful park-like setting, see the collection of vintage farm machinery, pan for gold, enjoy the huge model railway display and discover a collection of rare breed farm animals.
Pack a picnic lunch or visit the renowned restaurant to sample wine from the Hunting Hawk Vineyard.
Countless events take place at the ranch throughout the summer. For a full listing of events, tickets to O’Keefe Days and more information, call 542-7868 or visit www.okeeferanch.bc.ca.
