Hip, hip, hooray!: Members of River Spirit and BraveHearts dragon boat teams gathered to give three cheers for Canada Day committee chair, Carol Chapman and husband, Ron. The teams are gearing up to present Campbell River’s second annual dragon boat regatta, Race the River, on Saturday, June 30 as part of the Canada Day celebrations. The family event kicks off at 9 a.m. at Dick Murphy Park and will provide a day of fun for everyone. More than 400 paddlers will race in four dragon boats in the river estuary off the Tyee spit. Besides these exciting races there will be a salmon barbecue presented by Marine Harvest, face painting, food vendors and local musicians performing throughout the day.
