The 23rd annual Knox United Church Spring Lecture Series continues its discussion of the question Refuge — Where is Home? March 8 with a special International Women’s Day panel.
Hamdi Aweys, Jessyca Idi and Suzanne de la Barre will head the panel presentation Education: Opening Doors to a New Home in Canada. The presentation will draw attention to encouraging female refugee students to seek higher education, and provide support for this to happen.
On March 15, Bob McDonald, CBC science journalist, will close out the five-lecture series with a new perspective on Earth with his topic Canadian Spacewalkers: Hadfield, MacLean and Williams Remember the Ultimate High Adventure. This is the title of his latest book, about the only three Canadians to perform spacewalks outside the International Space Station.
Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. both days, with the lectures from noon to 1 p.m., including time for questions from the audience. Admission is $8 per lecture. For more information call Knox United at 250-248-3927.
