Knox Presbyterian Church is “revving” up its engines again this year, as it prepares for its summer vacation bible school, with the theme, I’m in the Lord’s Army!
“It’s loosely based on the classic song from Sunday school,” said Teresa Charlton, minister at Knox, “but the military theme is just to draw attention to the real focus, learning the Lord’s Prayer.”
In this year’s play, a squadron of air cadets learns from their commanding officer the biblical story of how the Lord’s Prayer came to be. Using songs, crafts, and a skit, volunteers from Knox will be sharing this and other prayers with the children. A final concert will take place on the last day, and the community is invited to come and watch.
“Think Snoopy and the Red Baron meets Jesus and the Disciples,” said Charlton.
The program runs Aug. 15 to 19 from 9 a.m. to noon. A nominal cost of $10/child is asked to help cover costs. Parents and grandparents are invited to call the church at 250-542-8613 or go online at www.knoxvernon.ca for more information or to register.
