Local author Diane Bestwick will read from and talk about her novel, And a Bird Sang on Saturday, June 20 from 3-4 p.m. At the Duncan library.
Bestwick spent almost a decade in China where the stories she heard about the One Child policy resulted in this novel about a university student in China who becomes pregnant when she does not have permission from the government to have a second child.
The story is fiction but the result of extensive travel in China where Bestwick lived with the families of students and fellow teachers.
The event is free.
