Maple leaf celebrates 50th birthday

Maple Leaf first raised on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on Feb. 15, 1965.

Sunday, Feb. 15, was Flag Day in Canada.  It was also the 60th anniversary of the Maple Leaf, being first raised on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on Feb. 15, 1965. In celebration of the anniversary, Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo MP Cathy McLeod secured two Canadian Flags to be given away to area residents via a contest facilitated by The Bear CHLW Radio Station in Barriere.
