Martial arts studio works to end bullying through education

Kees Tae Kwon Do studio in Vernon is holding an open house on Sept. 29 and invites the public to learn steps for handling bullying

Recent statistics show that bullying throughout Canada and around the world has reached epidemic levels.

The owner of Kees Tae Kwon Do in Vernon believes it’s time to put an end to bullying and is hosting an Anti-Bullying Open House on Saturday.

“During this open house, Kees Tae Kwon Do will teach attendees ways to eradicate bullying, through methods involving prevention and protection,” said Trevor Warkentin. “Everyone is invited to attend and there is no charge.

“Children and adults will learn a series of steps for handling bullying situations, including how to prevent bullying and what to do if bullying happens.”

In addition to offering anti-bullying programs, Kees Tae Kwon Do provides a variety of martial arts programs focusing on character development, self-defense, and life skills, which are suitable for all ages.

The open house takes place Saturday at 1 p.m. at the studio, 4704-29th St., Vernon.
