Last week, 98 Grade 7 students from Khalsa Elementary School’s Old Yale Road Campus in Surrey took part in a Centre for Enhanced Mathematics Education workshop with Dr. Carrie Knoll from the University of Waterloo.
Two years ago, in 2013, a Khalsa School student was one of 72 students chosen across Canada by the University of Waterloo to attend a free, week-long math and computer science workshop at the University of Calgary.
Last week’s workshop informative and enlightening for the students, said Principal Kamalpreet Kaur Baga, especially those interested in pursuing careers in math or computer sciences.
Dr. Carrie opened avenues for students to discover professions such as mathematician, software engineers, computer system analyzer, and many more by engaging students using age-appropriate materials and games.
