MP Randy Kamp (Pitt Meadows-Maple Ridge-Mission):
“Remembrance Day is a time when we can all take time out of our busy schedules to remember the sacrifices of those who fought for the freedoms we enjoy today.
The eleventh hour of the eleventh month is a time of serious reflection and grateful appreciation for the many thousands who served Canada, many paying the ultimate price. We also acknowledge with gratitude the sacrifices being made today by Canadian Forces members who believe that the values we hold dear are worth fighting for.”
MLA Marc Dalton, (Maple Ridge-Mission):
“Dad joined the RCAF during the Korean War and served in the military for 36 years across Canada and abroad, whether it was in remote radar stations on the Pine Tree and Dew lines or as a UN Peace Keeper in the Sinai or arming jet fighters in Germany where I was born.
I grew up with a deep appreciation and respect for our fighting forces and the great sacrifice they have made and continue to make for our nation in times of war or in times of peace. I joined the Canadian Forces Reserves as a young man and am now a member of the Legion in large part as an expression of appreciation towards those who have fought or are prepared to do so. We Remember!”
