Nature Canada’s photo contest accepting submissions until Aug. 19

Amateur photographers and nature enthusiasts can share their favourite nature stories through photography

You still have time to enter Nature Canada’s Nature Photo Contest. The contest garners over 6,000 entries a year and challenges amateur photographers and nature enthusiasts alike to share their favourite nature stories through photography.

Participants have up to Aug. 19, to share their photo on the contest website, Facebook, Twitter, or by e-mail or mail. Then, a panel of celebrity judges will select the top entries which will progress to public voting on Sept. 23.

Winners of this contest will be featured in Nature Canada’s annual photo calendar, and will be highlighted in their monthly E-newsletter which connects to thousands of environmentally conscious Canadians, and win some amazing prizes including a grand prize horseback trip for two to the historic Li-lik-hel Mine Expedition in British Columbia, a Canadian Signature experience, courtesy of Copper Cayuse Outfitters. In addition, the winners will be inducted into the “Nature Photo Hall of Fame” on the website and recognized in social media channels including Twitter (50,000 followers) and Facebook (12 000 likes).

There are a variety of themes into which you can submit your photo(s); Canadian Wildlife, Canadian Landscape, Fauna & Flora, Nature Nearby, Nature in Action, and Families in Nature.

Make sure to always include the theme that you are submitting your photo into, and the contest would also love to hear the story behind the shot. Make sure to always identify yourself as either an amateur, professional, or youth photographer.

Make sure to include #NaturePhotoContest when using social media. Twitter submissions should also include @naturecanada in order for entries to be accepted. Submissions can also be sent by mail. There is no limit as to the number of submissions by a single entrant. To find out more go to: http://naturecanada.ca/2016-photo-contest/
