Despite all of the stars, this is not a Christmas choir, though they probably would have done justice to the carols of the season. The group posed here is the Summerland Operatic Society (forerunner to Summerland Singers and Players) in the 1929 production of Iolanthe and, while we can’t hear them sing, they serve to remind us of how much Summerland residents appreciate good music. At this time of year, there’s plenty of opportunities to enjoy good music. Mark your calendars for the Penticton Tune-Agers, Dec. 6, 2 p.m. at the Summerland United Church; Summerland Ministerial Carol Fest, Dec. 6, 4 p.m. for carols and songs inside, 6 p.m. for carols and songs outside complete with campfire, popcorn and hot chocolate, at St. John’s Lutheran Church; Musaic Concert, Dec. 12, 2:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church. And be sure to keep your ears open for other concerts and events. ‘Tis the season!
