On Labour Day, the Society for the Protection of Kalamalka Lake (SPrKL) hosts its third annual Spirit Paddle.
“The event is in celebration of, and gratitude for the beautiful waters of Kalamalka Lake, drinking water for most of Greater Vernon,” say SPrKl representatives.
Everyone interested is invited to join SPrKL Monday at 10 a.m. on Kal Beach, located at the north end of Kal Lake in Coldstream. Look for SPrKL’s blue tent.
Those attending are asked to bring the following: a non-motorized watercraft, a life jacket, and a picnic lunch.
Once formed, the flotilla of watercraft, accompanied by the drumming of the Earth Sisters, will set off towards Rattlesnake Point, stopping for lunch at Jade Bay before dispersing.
Please note that paddlers on the lake are encouraged to join in at any point along the route, and hikers in Kal Park are welcome to bring their lunch and join the group at Jade Bay.
