Davison Orchards is offering a host of events on their farm to celebrate the September harvest.
Apple picking is now in full swing on the farm and the Davisons would like to invite local families into the orchard to try picking their own apples, every weekend in September.
“All kids just seem to love to do things for themselves,” says Tamra Davison, marketing director. “So this year we have some new tour options that lets even toddlers have their very own bag and pick their very own apples.”
Getting kids out on to the farm is a natural way for them to learn all about farming and how things grow.
“My grandson tried it and was proud to report, ‘I picked this apple all by mine self!’ “Plus, it’s fun and a great way to enjoy an Okanagan September,” said Davison.
Another option is Toddler Tours the morning of Sept. 10, with an apple-picking experience catered just for kids under five years. The morning will end with a fall story time in the Kids Corral.
On top of the tours, The Davisons will also be offering free sampling and cooking demos focusing on a different crop every weekend including tomatoes, squash and of course, apples.
More details can be found on their website, www.davisonrochards.ca. The farm is open every day until Oct. 31 and is at 3111 Davison Rd., Vernon, just off Bella Vista Road.
