Guildford School of Music and Dance has celebrated 20 years of teaching by awarding $20,000 of scholarships to its students.

Starting from humble beginning of 40 students in 1995, the schools have served more than 15,000 students, and have grown to be one of the  largest music and dance teaching schools in the province.

Students were chosen for scholarships based on essays they submitted telling what music or dance meant to them and how it enriched their lives.

“We wanted to express our thanks in a tangible way to the people that helped us reach this milestone,” said school director Valerie Beckford.

The school also has locations in Walnut Grove and White Rock.
