Newton Elementary School donated more than $9,125 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation on June 6 to help grant wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses.

The Surrey school was inspired by student Aniva Shaji, who passed away in 2012.

The kids at Newton Elementary pledged to raise money to grant wishes in her honour and have raised $15,000 in two years for the charitable foundation.
