Who can resist the glitter of the sun sparkling on Okanagan Lake’s waters on a summer day?

But while some take it for grants, there are others in the community that can’t see it. With the support of the Kelowna Yacht Club and its members, Kelowna residents with visual impairments will experience a day out on the lake next weekend.

For more than 15 years, Kelowna Yacht Club members have been hosting visually impaired guests along with their guides.

On Sept. 6, boats will head out at 9:30 a.m. some with fishing gear and visions of a fish that wins the trophy, while others will embark on a narrated lake tour.

The fun on the water is followed by lunch on the dock, presented by the Kelowna Yacht Club’s kitchen team.

All the volunteering members will donate their boats, their time and their fuel to provide a unique experience to our fellow citizens who may not experience the pleasure of boating.
