A three-month nightly closure of Highway 17A Overpass crossing over Highway 99 will start on January 8.
The repair timeline was rescheduled after the Delta Chamber of Commerce took a proactive stance by urging BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) to delay planned closures until January 24.
The Highway 17A crossing over Highway 99 was damaged on July 18, 2023, when struck by an over height vehicle. The repairs to the crossing will be extensive, involving demolition and girder installation. It is expected that repairs will take up to eight weeks and are weather-dependent.
The timeframe is January 8 2024 to March 1, 2024, (weather dependent)
• There will be nightly Highway 17A southbound closures 7 days/week from 7pm to 5am.
• Highway 17A southbound will be open daily from 5am to 7pm.
• Highway 17A northbound will remain fully open.
• An additional detour route will be available southbound via Burns Drive during evening closures.
• There will be 3 full weekend closures for southbound Highway 17A traffic from Friday 7pm to Sunday 5pm in January.
• There will be 2 full weekend closures of southbound Highway 99 traffic in January.
All drivers taking Highway 99 southbound are advised to consider alternate routes or add travel time as heavy delays and congestion are expected on the weekends.
