10 firefighting personnel working on spot-wildfire near Wonderland Trails east of Quesnel

The lightning caused fire is only 0.01 hectares, and is being held by firefighters

A small spot wildfire near the Wonderland Trail Network is being held according to the Cariboo Fire Service.

The lightning-caused fire was detected on Aug. 4. Fire Information Officer Madison Smith explained the fire is very small — around 5 metres by 5 metres. Ten firefighting personnel are working on the fire today (Aug. 5).

Two other new spot fires were discovered near Wells. A fire on Island Mountain is under control, and a fire near Stewart Creek is out of control, but being worked on. A firefighting helicopter was working on the Stewart Creek fire on Aug. 4.

Two wildfires are still classified as out of control inside Bowron Lake Provincial Park.
