On Dec. 8, the local Red Apple Store took part in the ‘Fill a Sleigh Day’, as part of the company’s annual Together We Care Toy Drive. Ten per cent of each toy sale on Dec. 8 will also be going to to the drive as a cash donation.

“It was really good,” said Kari Wall, the store’s manager. “On Saturday, we made like $1,400. That was pretty good.”

Overall, they made roughly $4,000 worth of toys during the duration of the Together We Care Toy Drive.

The toys purchased will be going to Royal LePage, who will then distribute them to various charities.

“It was great to know all these kids in town will get toys this year,” said Wall.

She went on to say she’s sure the store will partake in the toy drive again next year and will most likely bring back Santa Claus and the 100 Mile Fire-Rescue department to barbecue and show off their trucks.

“We try to add something else every year,” she said, though she admitted she hasn’t given it much thought yet. After all, she has nearly 12 months to do so.

She said it was great for the store to be involved with community support.

“One lady actually had said how great it was we did this,” said Wall. “She was very impressed.”

Wall also thanks everyone who donated toys and a big thank you for Santa and the personnel of the 100 Mile Fire- Rescue.
