100 Mile RCMP responded to 62 complaints and calls for service during the past week.
Charges laid
On Nov. 21, 100 Mile RCMP responded to a disturbance complaint in the 500 block of Birch Avenue in 100 Mile House.
Upon arrival at the residence, police located a male standing in the living room of the dwelling. He was wearing dark clothes, a homemade mask and carrying a metal pole in his hand.
There were other people inside the residence who were yelling at the suspect. The male was arrested without incident and escorted to a police vehicle.
Investigation revealed the male had entered the residence without permission and uttered threats to the occupants and damaged some of their property. The suspect and the victims were known to each other, but the motive for the incident is not known at this time.
A total of 8 charges have been laid against Jason Tysick of 100 Mile, including break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence, assault with a weapon, mischief under $5,000 and uttering threats.
He has been remanded to appear in 100 Mile Court yesterday (Nov. 22).
Prohibited driving
On Nov. 20, 100 Mile RCMP stopped the driver of a blue Ford pickup for not wearing a seatbelt on Exeter Station Road in 100 Mile House.
The subsequent investigation revealed the driver was prohibited from driving under the Motor Vehicle Act. The vehicle was towed and seized for seven days.
The driver was released on an appearance notice for driving while prohibited for a court date in January 2012.
Wintry road conditions
On Nov. 16, police and rescue crews responded to four, single-vehicle incidents in the 100 Mile House area.
There were three vehicles that went off the road on Highway 97 near Lac la Hache. The other incident took place on Canim Hendrix Lake Road near Forest Grove.
There were no serious injuries as a result of any of these collisions. Weather conditions and the driver’s speed relative to those conditions were believed to be contributing factors.
The 100 Mile RCMP are again reminding motorists the winter driving season is now well underway and motorists should be aware of deteriorating driving conditions at any time in the Cariboo.
