Thieves did some major damage in one of Kelowna’s downtown parks this week.
The City of Kelowna received a call early on the morning of Nov. 29 when a citizen noticed damage to the lights lining Waterfront Park.
Sometime overnight approximately 25 of the light standards from the Bird Sanctuary in Tug Boat Bay along Waterfront Park to the Delta Grand Hotel had been smashed resulting in almost $30,000 in damages.
Crime Stoppers is offering a minimum reward of $1,000 for tips leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for this vandalism.
Meanwhile, in other unsolved crimes, a thief took advantage of the craziness of a sales event to rip off some laptops from a busy electronics store located in Orchard Park Mall in Kelowna.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 17, 2017 a male entered Best Buy, walked into the stock room and departed through the shipping door with five Mac laptops, valued at an estimated $8,000.
If you can identify this person of interest, please contact Crime Stoppers.
