A well-known Kelowna family has given another gift to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation, this time in support of JoeAnna’s House.
The home away from home is currently under construction on the Kelowna General Hospital site for the families of patients who’ve had to travel to Kelowna for advanced medical care.
Knowing first-hand the hardship families endure when they are faced with a sick loved one, the Ramsay family gave $50,000 to support a bedroom at JoeAnna’s House, a 20-room home to keep families close as they navigate one of the most difficult times in their lives, according to a news release issued by KGH Foundation.
In June 2016, Jim Ramsay, beloved husband and father, passed unexpectedly. His charm, his love of life and caring would certainly be his legacy, one that is being proudly carried forwards through his wife, Darlene, and daughters Laura and Kathryn.

Even prior to Jim’s passing, the Ramsay family began their commitment to supporting families in need of advanced medical care. Previously, the Ramsay’s gave a significant gift to the foundation and were recognized in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the release said.
“It’s our hope that everyone who comes to JoeAnna’s House will feel safe, warm and loved” said Darlene.
“Our wish for JoeAnna’s House is that it is a place where, for just that one moment, you won’t be a guest in an accommodation, you will feel at a home.”
JoeAnna’s House is funded and operated by the KGH Foundation. The KGH Foundation hopes to complete construction by Christmas 2019.
The KGH Foundation is an independent, volunteer-driven charitable organization committed to enhancing the delivery of healthcare to the patients of Kelowna General Hospital and its associated facilities.
