B.C.’s greenhouse and floriculture growers are getting $7.6 million in carbon tax relief, the provincial government announced Tuesday.
The BC Greenhouse Growers’ Association will administer the application process for $6 million in grants for greenhouse vegetable growers, and the United Flower Growers Cooperative Association will administer $1.6 million in grants for greenhouse floriculture growers.
The carbon tax relief will be distributed in 2012 only, as a comprehensive review of the controversial carbon tax continues over the next year.
The tax has been an issue raised in the Chilliwack-Hope byelection mainly because of its impact on area farmers.
