He never saw it, but the smile on his playing partner’s face told him something good had just happened.
Bob Hays had pulled out his 6-iron on the 165-yard, Par 3 fourth hole at the Prince Rupert Centennial Course during the Men’s Jubilee Golf Tournament
“I hit a nice little draw and [the ball] landed on the front and rolled down the hill. The pin was at the back left,” Hays said. “One of the other guys had a cart and he was up there first and didn’t see anything … he walks up [to the hole] looks at me, smiles and gives me a thumbs up.
“It was in the hole.”
Hays, an 8-handicap, said it was the second time he had picked up a hole-in-one and the second time he had done it in a tournament but it was a long time ago as a 16-year-old.
