An accident rerouted traffic for about an hour on Friday morning (May 25), after a sedan collided with a semi-truck on Highway 97 near North Star Road in Quesnel.
According to a media release from the Quesnel RCMP, the sedan was travelling southbound on the highway when it appeared to have driven into the northbound lane, hitting the semi-truck at around 11 a.m.
The driver of the sedan was initially trapped in his vehicle before first responders were able to extract him. He appeared to have injured his legs in the collision, and was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the semi-truck was not hurt in the accident.
Quesnel RCMP, Fire Rescue and BC Ambulance Service all responded to the scene.
The media release added that it is currently unknown whether speed or impairment factored into the accident.
