Abbotsford man charged with bank robbery in Kelowna

A 42-year-old Abbotsford man has been arrested and charged in Kelowna after a bank robbery on Wednesday afternoon.

A 42-year-old Abbotsford man has been arrested and charged in Kelowna after a bank robbery on Wednesday afternoon.

Kelowna RCMP say that a man grabbed money from a teller’s hands while she was receiving the funds from a customer at a bank in the 2100 block of Harvey Avenue. The robber then fled in a grey Nissan, and witnesses recorded the licence plate.

About 90 minutes later, police responded to a call of an erratic driver whose grey Nissan ended up on the front lawn of a home in the 1200 block of Raymer Avenue.

The driver was arrested at the scene and was found to match surveillance video of the suspect at the bank.

Paul Blair Hauschild has been charged with impaired driving, refusal to provide a breath sample, dangerous driving and theft under $5,000. He has been remanded in custody and next appears in Kelowna Court on May 12.
