An Abbotsford man has been charged with several child porn offences following an investigation that began in January of this year.
Abbotsford Police Sgt. Judy Bird said local police received information from the RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre that an Abbotsford resident had accessed images of child sexual abuse.
A search warrant was then executed at the individual’s residence, where police seized electronic devices, including computers, memory cards and a cellphone.
Kyle Matthew Robert Dieno, 31, was arrested on Jan. 31 and was subsequently charged.
Bird said further investigation later resulted in additional charges.
Dieno now faces a total of nine charges – three counts of importing/distributing child porn and one count each of possessing child porn, accessing child porn, making/publishing child porn, invitation to sexual touching of a person under 16, sexual interference of a person under 16, and making sexually explicit material available to a person under 16.
Dieno was scheduled to make his first court appearance on Monday (March 26), but he did not show up, according to the provincial court database.
His next appearance is scheduled for April 23 and, if he doesn’t show up at that time, an application for a warrant for his arrest will be considered.
