An Abbotsford man accused of firing shots near Rick Hansen Secondary in April was found guilty last week of assault causing bodily harm in another case.
Narinder Singh Gill, 20, was convicted July 26 in Abbotsford provincial court in relation to an incident that occurred Oct. 21, 2010. His sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 13.
Gill arrived at Ellwood Park in west Abbotsford to confront an individual with whom he had been in a previous altercation. Both showed up with other people.
Gill used a 2 X 4 to attack one of the individuals. One person was struck three times and required 22 stitches for a wound to his head, according to information previously released by police.
Gill is still facing charges in court over an incident on April 7 of this year, when a group of high school students on their lunch break reported shots being fired from a Honda Accord in the area of Blueridge and Townline roads.
Five schools in the area were locked down for about an hour as a precautionary measure while police investigated.
Gill was charged with assault with a weapon, using an imitation firearm, and two counts of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose. His next appearance on that matter is also Oct. 13.
