Abbotsford Police officers are taking the bus this month as part of a project aimed at distracted drivers.
Project Bus Ride involves officers riding local transit buses to watch for distracted drivers and other infractions, including drivers and passengers not wearing their seatbelts and smoking in a car when a person under 16 is present.
Infractions will be reported to officers on the ground, who will then pull over the violators. Fines for driving offences range from $109 to $368.
During September, distracted-driving and occupant-restraint campaigns are carried out by police across B.C.
