A pair of Abbotsford Grade 8 students are hoping to make a difference for the Canuck Place Children’s Hospice for a class project this month.
Ryan Meier and Karl Stevenson, two friends in Grade 8 at Abbotsford Middle School, have paired up on a class assignment to do something for the community.
The duo decided they wanted to do a donations drive for Canuck Place, and will be collecting donations for the hospice on Jan. 26 at Save-On Foods off Whatcom Road from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“We chose Canuck Place because we thought it would be really nice to help people that are having a hard time. We are able to connect with our community and get things that would be helpful for them during a time that is very difficult,” Meier said in an email.
Save-On Foods is allowing the pair to use the entryway to the store, where they will set up a table to collect donations.
“We are asking for your help! There are so many ways you can help. No donation is too big or too small. We are looking for gift cards, books, toys, craft supplies, electronics, etc. Just bring it to Save-On Foods and we will collect it and take everything to Canuck Place,” Meier said.
They are not accepting used items, but the two have put together a wish list of items that they will accept for the Canuck Place donations drive, including gift cards for a variety of stores, arts and crafts supplies and Walt Disney and teen DVDs.
