A fire that began in a truck caused significant damage to a nearby house in Abbotsford Saturday afternoon.

Crews were called around 3:30 p.m. to a reported fire in a truck on Stoneleigh Avenue, just east of Sumas Way. The truck was parked close to a home, though, and the flames spread into the house. The fire scorched the exterior and extended into the structure, but firefighters were able to quell the blaze before the flames reached the attic of the house.

“The crews did a real good job catching this fire early on and preventing more damage,” assistant chief Craig Leighton said.

No one was injured in the blaze.

The fire is not believed to be suspicious.
