The arrival of spring means the opening of Bloom, the Abbotsford Tulip Festival, is around the corner.
The festival is set to open by April 15, with millions of tulip bulbs expected to begin to blossom over the coming weeks.
Bloom is entering its fourth year at its 10-acre North Parallel Road location.
More than 2.5 million bulbs are expected to blossom this year. The event will also include food trucks, photo booths, children’s games and covered picnic areas.
Tickets will be available April 9 at abbotsfordtulipfestival.ca.
The popularity of the event has caused parking and traffic issues in recent years. Prices have again been set to encourage people to visit during weekdays and during evenings.
Fraser Valley residents can pay $4, or $2.50 online, to gain access to the festival on Tuesdays and Thursdays after 3 p.m. Other special rates are available for groups, the disabled and on weekend evenings.
By contrast, tickets at the gate for weekends during “high bloom” periods cost $25. Tickets are cheaper if they are bought online or on weekdays.
The festival is also offering a $75 VIP package this year that includes a ticket for the busy May 4/5 weekend, along with ‘Skip the Line’ privileges and the ability to make your own crown.
