Abbotsford business Maple Leaf Nursery gave staff at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre a big slice of help on Friday.
The local business, owned by the Phulka family, dropped off 100 pizzas from Boston Pizza to show their appreciation to those battling on the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The food was dropped off at noon on Friday.
The family also posted a letter on every box stating their admiration for all the hard work done by those at the hospital.
The letter read:
Greetings everyone
This lunch is a small token of our appreciation of the frontline workers at Abbotsford Regional Hospital as they battle against the COVID-19 virus. In these difficult times it is necessary for us to support each other and unite as one community. Maple Leaf Nursery is a wholesale nursery operation that has been in business in Abbotsford since 1990. The founders and current owners Harjit Phulka and Amarjit Phulka have spent their entire lives in Abbotsford since immigrating to Canada from India in the 1980s. They felt it was necessary in these trying times to show our support any way possible.
Every day must be a struggle as you selflessly continue your day to day duties at the hospital while your families and loved ones are at home. The stories of how doctors and nurses are working overtime to serve the citizens of Abbotsford is inspiring and we at Maple Leaf Nursery want you to know that every hour of your hard work brings us a step closer to our normal times. The City of Abbotsford and British Columbia as a Province has done an amazing job thus far in the control and spread of this virus, and with your hard work we will continue to overcome it.
Thank you very much!
Warm Regards,
The Phulka Family
