Facebook photos of a business advertisement sign nailed to what appear to be two totem poles are drawing criticism today.
Comments include “I can’t even find the words to describe how extremely disrespectful and appalling that totem poles would be used in such a manner,” and “I’m very saddened to see this totem pole used as a bulletin board.”
The sign, located along a frontage road of Hwy16 in Thornhill east of Terrace advertises Pacific Quality Exteriors Ltd., a roofing business.
The two posts appear to have carved images towards their tops but are bare from the midpoint to the bottom, similar to telephone or hydro poles.
Whether they’re real totem poles or just made to look like totem poles isn’t clear as there’s been no response yet from the business.
