A wanted man who is well-known to Abbotsford police was arrested after a brief chase with police Monday night.
Zoltan Charles (Meischl) Losier, 28, had been on the run since mid-December after two warrants were issued for his arrest when he failed to appear in court on a raft of charges.
Patrol officers received a report on Monday night that Losier might have been involved in the theft of a vehicle, said Sgt. Judy Bird, media officer for the Abbotsford Police Department.
“We received information that he may have stolen a vehicle around 4:30 p.m. (Monday) and we have a variety of areas that we know that he frequents,” Bird said. “We observed him arrive at a residence on Peardonville Road.”
After setting up a police barricade around the building, officers attempted to make contact with Loiser, according to Bird.
“Shortly thereafter, he was observed flying out the back of the residence and jumping over a fence and went west into a neighbour’s yard,” Bird said. “There was a short foot pursuit and he was arrested by patrol officers without incident.”
Losier was arrested around 8:30 p.m. and may be facing additional charges from the alleged vehicle theft.
Losier’s December court appearance was for charges of: dangerous operation of a vehicle, flight from police, occupying a vehicle with a firearm present, possessing a weapon for dangerous purposes, possession of counterfeit money and two counts of drug possession with intent to traffic.
