Victoria Brookes, president of the Agassiz Agricultural and Horticultural Association which manages the Ag Hall, said the association was happy to donate the space.

“This is has been a very hard year for the Ag Association, with the cost of our building and maintaining them with very little income coming in,” Brookes said. “But this is an important community event.”

According to Fraser Health, the Agassiz Agricultural Hall clinic was opened to provide additional capacity for the Agassiz area. The clinic opens at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 1 and closes at 3:45 p.m.

Like all other vaccine clinics, there are no drop in spots available. Only eligible individuals will be able to book appointments at the clinic.

Currently, these eligible individuals include seniors over the age of 73, Indigenous people over the age of 55, designated essential visitors to someone in long-term care or assisted living, health care workers, a client with home health or home support, and people identified as “clinically extremely vulnerable” who have received an invitation letter signed by Dr. Bonnie Henry.

The Agricultural Hall clinic will remain in the community until the end of May, with vaccinations happening each Wednesday between April 7 and May 26, excluding May 12.

The clinic at the Agassiz public health unit on Pioneer Avenue is still open for vaccinations.

New appointment spaces open weekly, and Fraser Health asks that people who don’t see an appointment that fits with their schedule check back later as additional appointments times and clinic days are added on an ongoing basis.
