Airshow’s Ron Price among Jubilee medal recipients

Ceremony took place during Friday morning's Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce breakfast.

Three more Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee medals were handed out on Friday morning.

Abbotsford West MLA Mike de Jong presented the awards during a chamber breakfast meeting held at the Abbotsford Banquet Centre.

Ron Price, longtime president of the Abbotsford Airshow received his medal for his continued service to the community.

“Ron Price has been associated with the Abbotsford Airshow for it seems like an eternity. It was Ron who had the vision back in the 1980s to take what had already acquired a reputation as one of the leading aerospace display and demonstration events in the world and turn it into something bigger,” said de Jong.

The other two recipients included Mt. Lehman’s Sharon Taylor, who is an integral part of organizing the Mt. Lehman Fall Fair and supporting and developing the community itself; and Kelly Chahal who has been involved with the community for years and is a driving force behind the Fraser Valley Indo-Canadian Business Association and the University of the Fraser Valley.

A total of 60,000 people across Canada will receive the award, which requires the recipient to have made a significant contribution to a particular province, territory, region on community within Canada, or an achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada.
