The man who was injured after being run over on his bike by a van is on the mend, police say.
The victim, who police say was an adult male, was struck at the corner of Johnston Road and Helen Street last Friday night after 11 p.m. and was transported to West Coast General Hospital.
According to Port Alberni RCMP Watch Commander Theresa Thompson, the man has since been transported to hospital in Victoria, where he remains in stable condition. The extent of his injuries remains unknown though.
“It’s a privacy matter between he and his doctor so we can’t reveal that,” Thompson said.
The investigation into the matter is ongoing, she added.
