Board chair Karla Kozakevich had the highest remuneration, at $76,278. She also claimed $1,868 in expenses. Compensation for directors and alternate directors varied widely, from a low of $182 for alternate director Brent Rowland to a high of $35,484 for director Riley Gettens.
The compensation for directors and alternate directors is higher now than in the past. On Jan. 1, 2020, compensation increased by 11.9 per cent. This change was described as “an equalization” rather than a raise. It came because of tax changes affecting regional district expenses.
The regional district represents an area of 10,412 square kilometres, with a population of more than 83,000 people. The board consists of 19 members, representing incorporated municipalities and unincorporated communities throughout the area.
The board holds meetings on the first and third Thursdays of the month. Alternate directors fill in when a director is unable to attend a meeting.
