Andrew Mercier, a lawyer and former B.C. NDP candidate, is running for Langley City Council.
In his written announcement released today, Mercier promised to fight a proposed mobility tax if elected.
“The average Langley family can’t afford to pay an extra $2,700 a year just to get to work and back,” Mercier said.
“Folks shouldn’t be punished for living in Langley.”
He also highlighted housing costs and homelessness in his statement, saying “housing costs are off the charts and rents are not far behind.”
Mercier ran for the as the B.C. NDP candidate for Langley in 2013 and managed the federal NDP campaign in the Langley riding in 2011.
